West, The Little Chef

West was a kind little boy who loved to watch and learn. One night, he saw his mommy’s tired eyes as she sang a soft lullaby. She had been busy all day. West had a big idea to help his mommy out! He tiptoed to the kitchen after bedtime. He remembered his yummy blue-boxed macaroni and cheese. With a little ladder, he reached the counter, poured the macaroni into a bowl, and warmed it up in the microwave. He let the macaroni and cheese cool, then hid it in the fridge with a giggle.

The next sunny morning, West jumped out of bed and gave his mommy a big, big hug. “Guess what, Mommy? I made a surprise lunch!” he said with a twinkle in his eye. Mommy looked in the fridge and saw the macaroni. Her eyes sparkled like stars. “Oh, Westie!” she said, hugging him tight, “This is a very special treat. Thank you!”. A tear trickled down her cheek, and West looked at her, puzzled.

She smiled gently, “Oh, Westie, these are happy tears. Your kind gesture has filled my heart with so much joy.” As lunchtime arrived, the family gathered around the table. The barbecue wings Mommy made perfectly complemented West’s special macaroni and cheese.

With a twinkle in her eye, Mommy declared, “This, my dear Westie, is the best macaroni and cheese I’ve ever tasted!” And as they all laughed and enjoyed their meal, West’s heart swelled with happiness, knowing he had made his mother’s day a little brighter. West felt warm and happy inside, like when you’re wrapped in a cozy blanket. They all laughed, ate, and felt the love that  West, the little chef,  had cooked up.
