Amici Trattoria Italiana Brings A Taste Of Italy To The Hammocks

I have been watching this restaurant from afar for some time now but never dared to visit, it was always so full of people. It is in my neighborhood and I was curious as to why this little venue was getting so much attention from the locals.

The staff was warm and welcoming, and the first thing we saw after we entered were the patrons smiling as they ate. That is always a good sign. We were starving and ordered many dishes.

The first thing they brought to the table after the drinks were Garlic Rolls. The rolls, were quite fragrant when they arrived, filling our surroundings with the warm aroma of garlic and melted cheese. I took a bite and it was simply heaven. This was definitely not diet food so please refrain if you are watching your figure, delicious calories will add up fast.

A simple garden salad and a Caprese were presented next: the garden salad made with fresh greens, tomatoes, cucumbers combined with the house dressing. The Caprese with mozzarella, basil and fresh tomatoes.

The Fried Calamari dish was very pleasing, served with lime wedges and marinara sauce. It was lip- smacking good, not extraordinary but still quite memorable.

The Seafood Soup was exceptional; prepared with fresh mussels, clams and shrimp and slowly cooked in a fish broth with garlic, tomatoes and onions.

Risotto Frutti di Mare was another gem of a plate and was made with shrimp, mussels, clams and calamari.

Amici’s Homemade Lasagna was not really attractive but it had a good taste. It was very cheesy, creamy and volcano-hot when it arrived. The lasagna also disappeared from the plate. Quickly.

Chocolate Mousse Cake was the choice for dessert – quite a gigantic wedge of cake served with an even more massive dollop of whipped cream. I took a little bite and it melted in my mouth like butter.

Looking for an informal and comfortable place to take your family for an affordable Italian feast? Well Amici’s should definitely be considered. This is not a gourmet joint by any means, just a simple, down-to earth place to eat well and enjoy.
