Shokudo is an Asian Bistro that specializes in offering a variety of comfort food favorites from the Orient. We were there for a Hoh Wok Club lunch gathering and got to try a special tasting menu.
Hoh Wok Club, hosted by Eleanor Hoh, also know as the Wok Star, likes to introduce small restaurants with a nice ambience that focus on Modern Asian cuisine. The menu this time offered fresh and beautifully presented dishes that were a delight both for the eyes and the palate.
Lumpia
Black lentil vegetarian spring roll, tamarind dipping sauce
Grilled Pork Belly
Arugula, starfruit and yuzu vinaigrette
Manila Ceviche
Cobia, mango, tomato, red onion, jalapeno, calamansi, coconut milk & taro chips
Kalbi & Soba Noodle Salad
Banana Turon
Sweet spring roll of caramelized banana, chocolate, jack fruit, cream cheese and caramel.
Chef Armando Litiatco is a brilliant Filipino-American chef from San Francisco, who also cooked in New York at Daniel Boulud’s restaurant and he is the current Chef at Shokudo.
According to Eleanor Hoh:
“Translated as the “the path to good food”, Shokudo offers a relaxing dining experience with the highest quality food. It is easy to fall in love with the culinary concept of Asian fusion at Shokudo. Whether you are in the mood for Thai, Japanese, Chinese, Filipino, or Korean you will surely find the perfect dish the will suite your craving. “
