1-800-LUCKY Food Hall in Wynwood, Miami

1-800-LUCKY has been on my bucket list for months now so when I got the opportunity to go with two of my dining companions, Miss E. and Miss G., I was thrilled indeed. This hip food hall had seven restaurants, and we got to try three of them.

This time I will start describing my favorite dish – The Rainbow Poke OG Bowl from Poke OG. I know that I was hungry, and that could impair my judgment, but this dish was truly divine – something that my Guardian Angel would prepare for me. Ahi, salmon, hamachi, cucumber, sweet onions, green onions, bubu arare ( seasoned rice pearls imported from Japan), tossed in aioli, and white rice comingled in one dish the create the perfect symphony of flavors that was just magical – my tongue was actually dancing with the stars. A must-try.

Miss E. and Miss G. both had Banh Mi Bowls from Les Banh Amis Vietnamese Deli-  Barbecued Pork Belly and Lemongrass Grilled Chicken. They were served over organic mixed greens, young papaya, rice vermicelli noodles, pickled daikon and carrot, cucumber, jalapeño, fresh herbs, Vietnamese style aioli, homemade hoisin sauce, Maggi vinaigrette. I had a bite of each bowl, and both were delicious.

The chickens had Barbecued Pork Belly Banh Mi Sandwiches, also from Les Banh Amis – Served on toasted Sullivan Street Bakery bread with pickled daikon and carrot, sliced cucumber, jalapeño, fresh herbs, Vietnamese style aioli, homemade hoisin sauce, Maggi vinaigrette. These were such pretty sandwiches but the chickens, who have a great disdain for vegetables, took all the delicious stuffing out minus the pork belly and the sauces and were in heaven. No matter how many times you tell them to eat their veggies, they just don’t get it.

For dessert, we had the Signature Taiyaki Ice Cream from Taiyaki NYC – Vanilla ice cream, red bean taiyaki cone, chocolate drizzle, crushed Oreos, wafer stick. I just got a lick of the ice cream and a bite of the cone. It was pretty good, and this is coming from a salty person.

I really do love 1-800-LUCKY and wish that I was rich enough to try something from each vendor, especially the Banh Mi sandwich with all the veggies included and some dim sum and ramen. I will be back as soon as I can.
