Jazzed-Up Instant Ramen

I was not introduced to instant ramen until I was in my early 20’s. As a pasta-lover, this new type of noodle was quite a discovery. As I got older, I started playing with ramen and adding all kinds of ingredients to the noodles and used them as sides or complete meals. Now, my chickens also love ramen and prepare them when hungry and in a hurry.

Ingredients

  • 1 packet of your favorite instant ramen
  • Water

Preparation

  1. Prepare ramen according to the packet instructions.
  1. Make it interesting by adding 3 or 4 of the following prepared ingredients: hard-boiled egg – cut lengthwise in half, grilled chicken, corn, green peas, shredded carrots, sliced radishes, green onions, bean sprouts, thin slices of raw beef, crispy bacon, fried sliced of pork belly, baby spinach leaves, basil leaves, chopped cilantro, mushrooms, cubed tofu, a few drops of sesame oil, steamed broccoli, baby bok choi, stir-fried seasoned ground meat, cooked seafood mix, fake crab sticks.
  1. To add to the cooking liquid: curry powder, 2 or 3 star anise, a cinnamon stick, turmeric, ginger slices, smashed lemongrass, substitute one cup of the water with coconut milk, omit the seasoning packet that comes with the ramen altogether and add miso paste to the water until seasoned to taste.
