Brunching with Miss Y.

I had the joy of brunching with my dear friend, Miss Y., at True Food Kitchen. The moment we stepped in, the warmth and vibrancy of the place wrapped around us, a perfect setting for what was to become a memorable mini feast.

Our culinary journey began with the Jasmine Pearl Green Tea, a symphony of delicate flavors that revitalized and soothed our senses. Each sip was a gentle caress of floral notes, a prelude to our yummy adventure.

Then came the Farmer’s Market Scramble, a dish that captured the essence of freshness in every bite. The Vital Farms pasture-raised scrambled eggs were light and fluffy. Sweet potatoes added a subtle sweetness that contrasted beautifully with the charred onions and roasted Brussels sprouts, each bringing their own depth of flavor. The smoked Gouda and Parmesan cheese wove a rich tapestry of creamy, smoky goodness throughout the dish, making each forkful more delightful than the last – it was a celebration of farm-to-table philosophy encapsulated in a single, balanced dish.

Our food adventure continued with the Smoked Salmon Toast, a delight that was as pleasing to the eye as it was to the palate. The smoked salmon lay elegantly atop a bed of lemon ricotta, its delicate smokiness dancing gracefully with the zesty freshness of the lemon. Marinated cucumbers and pickled onions added a crunch and tang that cut through the richness, balancing the dish perfectly. But Chef Matt’s Magical Dust truly set it apart, a secret blend of spices that added an unexpected and delightful pop of flavor, making each bite a discovery. Served with mixed greens, this dish was a vibrant mosaic of textures and tastes.

Our brunch at True Food Kitchen was a nourishing experience that fed both our bodies and spirits. The laughter, the shared stories, and the delectable dishes created a brunch that will be etched in our memories. As we bid farewell, I was filled with a profound sense of gratitude for life’s simple pleasures—good food, great company, and the joy of sharing a meal with a friend.
