A Little Lunch At Earls Kitchen + Bar

Earls Kitchen + Bar is part of restaurant group that started in 1982. They have 65 locations across the US and Canada. Earls works with local suppliers and producers where possible and offers a wide variety of menu items that include pastas, seafood, chicken, ribs and steaks as well as pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, a great wine selection and craft beers.

My dining companions were Mister H. and the chickens. We visited the newly opened location in Dadeland Mall, Kendall.

We started off with the BBQ Pork Buns that were served with Hoisin hot sauce, cilantro and roasted peanuts. The pork filling was delicious. The buns on the other hand, were not spongy and moist as expected but rather on the dry side.

Mister H. ordered the Fish Tacos – made with grilled wahoo, mango-avocado salsa and flour tortillas. He said that they were good and gobbled them up in seconds. He also ordered Earls Famous Clam Chowder, which was equally yummy. Made with fresh vegetables, cream and smoky bacon, it was a hit.

The Dynamite Shrimp + Mango Roll was served with sriracha mayo and maple soy reduction. It was very flavorsome but not particularly exceptional.

The Bigger Better Burger had a huge patty which was quite succulent. This was Miss Y.’s dish and I had trouble getting her to give me a bite so I could taste it.

Miss I. ordered the most expensive thing, as usual. The Classic Steak came with garlic mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables and fresh horseradish. I got a bite of the steak and it was glorious – tender, juicy and divine.

Earls Kichen + Bar was an interesting place. The restaurant itself was beautiful and modern with a separate lounge area where the bar was located. The staff was friendly and accommodating. There is something that I think is worth mentioning: the service we got was not exactly the best. The waiter forgot to bring my little one’s drink and then again forgot to bring her burger, as a matter of fact, he did not even take her order even though she was the first one to place it. He also did not pack the leftover garlic mashed potatoes and vegetables that came with the steak, something we were looking forward to having for dinner.
