Why Blog About Food?

It would seem that if you write about food, take pictures and post that in a blog, and not many people are paying attention to what you are doing, then it is all is just a monumental waste of time. I do often ponder about the usefulness of this hobby of mine. Not only me but also my children and family who chastise me regularly about not being able to shove their food in their mouths as soon as the dishes arrive at the table until after I take a picture of it.

My behavior has been described as “terribly annoying,” “very irritating,” “incredibly bizarre,” and even prone to inducing fits of anger among fellow diners. The truth is that food is vital to me and preserving the pre-digested appearance of it is absolutely essential. Too many take for granted the gift of a good meal –  the privilege of sitting on the table and enjoying a sandwich, a lovely salad, stir-fried beef with broccoli, a cup of tea, or a simple slice of hot toasted bread drenched in melted butter.

I am actually very interested in what people have for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and also wonder how it feels not having the ability or the means to be able to eat enough to live. Food and the way it is prepared, consumed, distributed, disposed of and wasted is a vital part of real life.

I will continue to take photos of food until I no longer have the strength to hold a camera, develop a leaky gut or go blind. I will keep posting to Masala Eats Miami even if it is for an audience of one.  I will continue to annoy the hell out of people who do not believe in preserving the memory of their meals.
